KALASHNIKOV ATTACK ON ATHENS POLICE STATION

27 October, Agia Paraskevi police station, Athens, is attacked at 21.40 by three persons on two motorbikes. They fired Kalashnikov automatic weapons, shooting dozens of bullets against the police station, and then disappeared. A manhunt is currently underway to identify and arrest them. Four police officers - a woman and three men - were injured. Two of them are said to have received bullets in the chest and abdomen and to be in a serious condition.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the action, which took place after Greece's new Socialist government promised to crack down on anarchist and far-left militant groups and backed this up with increasingly repressive measures such as a massive presence of cops in the centre of Athens, ID checks, random beatings, etc., and now offering a reward for the capture of three anarchist comrades.
