The prisoner Ashraf Sekkaki escaped briefly on Monday from prison in Morocco, reports the drafting of the VRT. He was quickly intercepted. His lawyer, Sven Mary, would not comment on the information.
Ashraf Sekkaki had committed several acts of violence, including armed robbery, carjacking and tiger-kidnapping. His trial starts on Wednesday.
Sekkaki had already escaped in 2003 and 2009 from Turnhout prison, Bruges. For his last flight, a helicopter was used.
In 2007 he was declared mentally ill, "crazy to escape," according to the ratings. He regularly made death threats to guards.
