Algeria - RN 09 and RN 75 are closed to traffic as villagers claim essential structures
lexpressiondz
For the third consecutive day, the RN 09 and RN 75 are closed to traffic at the same locations. The inhabitants of Merdj Ouamane and those Laâlam have reissued their muscular actions. The first blocked traffic on the RN 75 between Bejaia in Setif via Amizour. The latter have done the same at the crossroads at the entrance to the town of Souk el Tenine, east of the wilaya of Bejaia. The inhabitants of Merdj Ouamane are claiming back the surfacing of the road to their village, installation of street lighting, the installation of road lines and pipelines for wastewater and drinking water. All the steps initiated to calm the protesters were unsuccessful. The protesters camped on their position and require the arrival of the wali on hand to reopen the road. For their part, residents of Laâlam are making the same claim, namely the presence of the Chief Executive. The revival of work on the new road that would link the village to Laâlam Melbou remains the main motivation of this turmoil that persists causing enormous inconvenience to users of this important highway.
