09.11.10 - Maysa Abu Ghazala – Jerusalem - Clashes in two East Jerusalem neighborhoods on Wednesday evening left four youths suffering the effects of tear gas inhalation and five arrested.
According to area resident Mahmoud Sayyam, the unit of Israeli soldiers dressed as Arabs entered the area on Wednesday evening. When Palestinians tried to stop them, the soldiers threw tear gas canisters, which resulted in the four injuries.
Eyewitnesses said five others were arrested during the operation, from the Zeitoun, Da’na, Muhtasib, and al-Razim families.
In nearby ‘Issawiya, another violent clash erupted between Palestinian residents and Israeli forces when the latter attempted to close off a main entryway with concrete blocks.
In related news, an Israeli court released local youth Jamal Farj Da’na from eight days of house arrest in Silwan. Malik Hadad, another Silwan youth, had his detention extended until the November 14
