3 July 2010 - GUILIN - Hundreds of people from 11 villages in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region took to the streets Saturday to protest against the construction of a waste disposal center.
Shouting slogans and waving banners, protestors from Lingchuan County marched on the road to Guilin City, which administers Lingchuan. They planned to protest at the city government.
Protestors say they will not allow the government to build the planned waste disposal center in Silian Village of Lingtian Township, Lingchuan.
By 4:30 p.m., they were 5 km from the Guilin municipal government. The roadside was crowded with people who came to watch as the way was blocked by the protestors.
