Enemalta has reported that at 19:20 CEST on Wednesday, a feeder tripped at Corradino Medwear substation causing a power cut in part of Corradino, Ħas Saptan, Marsaxlokk, and Birżebbuġa.
When Enemalta technicians went on site to investigate they found that certain cables had been tampered with. A report was immediately lodged to the police. After preliminary investigations it was discovered that 2 people had suffered electrical injuries and were receiving care at Mater Dei Hospital. A total of 17 substations were affected, but Enemalta technicians and engineers managed to restore power to all the localities affected by 21:53 CEST. A police investigation is currently underway. An unrelated cable fault between Valletta Road and tas-Sejba in Mqabba occurred at 22.43, and affected parts of Qrendi, Ħal Far, Żurrieq and Mqabba, power was restored at 02:22 CEST.
