July 1, 2010OUAGADOUGOU - A young man was killed Thursday in Gaoua (south-western Burkina Faso) during clashes between security forces and demonstrators protesting against the death of another teenager arrested by police, officials said from the floor.
According to state radio, unrest broke out in the town after the "accidental death" in the night between Wednesday and Thursday of a young man who was arrested by police for possessing cannabis.The young man died "in hospital after his arrest," government spokesman Filippe Savadogo told AFP.
In the afternoon angry residents set fire to the Police Directorate of the South-West, of which Gaoua is the chief town, and burned police vehicles, witnesses told AFP.They clashed with police, who "fired live bullets" to disperse the demonstrators, said witnesses.
