Students of St. Leo's College Kyegobe in Fort Portal, Kabarole district on Sunday night went on strike.
They were protesting the poor quality T-shirts given to them by the school, not receiving their sweaters and the administration's failure to buy a school bus.
Armed with clubs and stones, the angry students attacked the director of studies, Francis Asiimwe's home, burnt his car, destroyed household property estimated at sh40m, before cutting down his garden.
The stunned Asiimwe said it was a miracle that his family survived because the students broke into his house intending to kill them.
"The students disconnected my power and set my car ablaze before getting into the house. I broke the ceiling and hid there with my two daughters, my wife and the maid. They destroyed everything while we were hiding," Asiimwe narrated.
The situation was controlled when the Police arrived.
The district criminal investigations department boss, Joseph Ssentamu, said it took them five hours to send the rioting students back to their dormitories.
